Been twice to Liberte Cafe and Restaurant, a Filipino inspired cafe. They do a bit of everything including baked goods.
The service was adequate although no one came by to offer any water refills. Food came out very quickly.
The menu is very extensive.
Benedicts, eggs, pande-loaf toast, ube waffles, paninis, burgers, silog, pasta/rice, soup, salad and fried chicken.
They also have a display case full of pastries, cakes and buns.
Trip #1
We dropped in on a slow Monday (around 12:15pm).
Chai latte ($4.25 small)
A’s drink which she enjoyed.
Ube latte ($4.80 small)
Ube latte was great. Bright, colourful and not too sweet.
Tapsilog ($18.50)
Sliced beef rib steak, tomato, cucumber, garlic fried rice and two sunny side up eggs. 100% overpriced for what you get but the garlic fried rice was decent. Unfortunately, the beef slices were hard and overcooked.
Clam chowder ($9.00)
Baby clams, leek and house special toast. Nothing particularly special about the toast.
The clam chowder was okay but unmemorable.
Trip #2
We dropped in once again on a Monday (around 2:30pm) but this time it was packed.
Ube latte ($5.35 large)
Once again, solid.
Smoked salmon benedict ($21.00)
This came with wedge fries and side of house salad. Wedge fries were standard fare. Eggs benny was pretty typical. Bernaise sauce wasn’t too rich but I did like the inclusion of the avocado.
Traditional bangers & toast ($18.50)
Two eggs (poached), english banger, 3 peameal bacon, pande-loaf toast, house salad and fruits. The toast was dry and tasteless. Peameal bacon was okay but the banger was the best thing on the plate.
Ube crinkle ($1.25)
Texture was decent but light on the ube flavour.
Macarons ($10.95 for 3)
Black sesame, ube and raspberry. These are larger than the usual French macarons. Black sesame was the best one. The other two were light in flavour.
Nothing special with Liberte’s food offerings. Best to stick with their drinks and desserts.
