We don’t head to Gastown much but finally were in the area to try Skewers Souvlaki Pita Bar. Its run by the nicest husband and wife combo, close to Robba da Matti.
Hours.
We dropped in on a busy Sunday evening (around 6:15pm). The inside is cramped with 5 “tables” and a couple of bar seats. Can fit about 20 people total. Service was sweet and friendly. Be aware, you’ll smell like meat after your meal.
The menu is small with souvlaki wraps, platters, salads and desserts.
Mixed grill platter ($28.00)
Pork gyro, 1 chicken skewer and 1 lamb skewer with fries, tzatziki sauce, pita bread and Greek salad. All the meats were tender and well seasoned. Super impressed that they were all good. Fries were solid. Nice chunk of feta over the salad. The tzatziki was delicious, loved the garlic.
Lamb souvlaki wrap ($15.00 for 5oz)
Stuffed with tomato, onion, parsley and fries. You get about four good chunks of lamb. Pita is warm and pillowy. A simple, well executed wrap.
Crem karamelle
Vanilla custard with caramel sauce. They brought us both desserts to try, on the house. Not too sweet. Flan was soft and smooth.
Mosaic
Cookies, walnuts and chocolate syrup. Similar to a not sweet brownie.
SSPB is a gem. Give them a try.
