Simit Bakery Cafe (Kitsilano)

Met up with some out of town friends at Simit Bakery Cafe. They’re located beside Delara Restaurant and Hi-Nippon Japanese Restaurant.

We dropped in on a Wednesday (around noon). You order and pay first at the counter.

Prices for some things have jumped 50% since my first visit two years ago (at their OG location on Broadway).

Turkish coffee ($3.95)
UntitledComes with a Turkish delight. Strong and packs a punch.

Spinach-feta bourek ($6.25)
UntitledDelicious. Great filling and flaky pastry.

Feta-parsley su-bourek ($6.75)
UntitledReminded us of a light, no frills lasagna. Would have tasted better if they heated it up. My least favourite thing out of everything we tried.

Olive & mozarella stuffed bagel ($6.95)
UntitledStill as good as I remember. Great texture and satisfying bite.

Simit breakfast plate ($15.25)
UntitledSimit with a sunny-side egg, avocado and melted cheddar with a salad and pan fried potatoes. Not a substantial amount on the plate, unless you’re a light eater.

Triangle baklava ($4.95)
UntitledLight and not too sweet.

San Sebastian cheesecake ($7.95 slice)
UntitledIf you’re a dessert person, this is a must get. Their cheesecake is perfection; creamy, soft and not too sweet.

Decent Turkish eats at SB.
