Afghan Turkish Cuisine

Never been to Afghan Turkish Cuisine although I’ve driven by it many, many times. It’s located around the corner from Ramen Gaoh.

Sign outside.

We dropped in on a Saturday (around 5:00pm) and it was reasonably busy. A lot of takeout/to go orders by customers. The inside has three tables (10 seats) and a couple window counter seats to people watch. It’s no frills; order and pay at the counter. They did have a TV playing some music videos in the background.

The menu consists of Kabuli plau (Afghan pilaf), platters, donairs, appetizers and desserts.

FYI: for the three sauces, you can ask/choose which sauces you want.

Turkish coffee ($2.50)

Lahmacun ($3.99)
UntitledMinced beef, tomato, lettuce and parsley. The lahmacun was super thin but the squeeze of lemon on top gave it a nice acidity. Perfect to share.

Lamb shank platter ($14.99)
UntitledAll their platters come with rice, salad, pita bread and three sauces (garlic, hummus and tzatziki). The garlic was my favourite; if you’re a garlic fan, this is more garlicky than you can imagine! Tasty stuff.

Untitled

The lamb shank itself was tender, yet still retained a good bite to it.

Adana platter ($12.99)
UntitledTwo ground beef barbecued skewers with the same accompaniments.

Untitled

Both skewers were flavourful and well seasoned.

Chicken platter ($12.99)
UntitledJ’s dish which came with a pile of chicken. He really enjoyed the hot sauce that came drizzled on top and asked for more.

Would return to ATC for more eats.
