Never been to Afghan Turkish Cuisine although I’ve driven by it many, many times. It’s located around the corner from Ramen Gaoh.
Sign outside.
We dropped in on a Saturday (around 5:00pm) and it was reasonably busy. A lot of takeout/to go orders by customers. The inside has three tables (10 seats) and a couple window counter seats to people watch. It’s no frills; order and pay at the counter. They did have a TV playing some music videos in the background.
The menu consists of Kabuli plau (Afghan pilaf), platters, donairs, appetizers and desserts.
FYI: for the three sauces, you can ask/choose which sauces you want.
Lahmacun ($3.99)
Minced beef, tomato, lettuce and parsley. The lahmacun was super thin but the squeeze of lemon on top gave it a nice acidity. Perfect to share.
Lamb shank platter ($14.99)
All their platters come with rice, salad, pita bread and three sauces (garlic, hummus and tzatziki). The garlic was my favourite; if you’re a garlic fan, this is more garlicky than you can imagine! Tasty stuff.
The lamb shank itself was tender, yet still retained a good bite to it.
Adana platter ($12.99)
Two ground beef barbecued skewers with the same accompaniments.
Both skewers were flavourful and well seasoned.
Chicken platter ($12.99)
J’s dish which came with a pile of chicken. He really enjoyed the hot sauce that came drizzled on top and asked for more.
Would return to ATC for more eats.
