Saved the best for last. Came back to Rollingdale Winery as it was one of our favourite wineries last time.
Tastings have increased to $8.70/person (for 5 pours) but are waived with purchase.
Our pourer was friendly and sweet.
Awesome that she suggested we sample everything (instead of getting the same pours, she offered to pour us side by side comparisons of their whites/rose/reds).
2020 Riesling
2021 Organic estate chardonnay
Not as sweet as last year’s chardonnay. Still very bright with a tropical, citrus note.
We bought a bottle ($31.22) for home.
2021 Organic estate pinot gris – sweeter than we expected.
2021 Organic estate pinot blanc – their driest white wine but it didn’t taste like it. Crisp and light.
2020 Organic estate pinot blanc – this interestingly has the same residual sugar level as the pinot gris but you can’t tell. Well balanced with a hint of honey.
2020 Rosé – very fruit, berry forward. A touch frizzy at the end.
2021 Organic estate blanc de merlot
This one was new to us. They make this as a merlot but in a white wine style.
Tasted like a juicy watermelon. We bought a bottle ($33.83) for home.
2017 Pinot noir – a touch smoky and you can taste the oak from the barrels.
2019 9 Barrels syrah – they hand bottled and labeled this one (only 9 barrels were made, hence the name). Smooth and balanced with the slightest hint of smoke.
