Fox & Oak

We’re always on the lookout for good doughnut places so we decided to check out Fox & Oak.

They specialize in naturally leavened doughnuts and coffee.

Hours.

DSC04137

We dropped in on a Sunday afternoon (around 3:30pm) and it was busy. A small lineup out front but it moves relatively quickly.

DSC04140

There’s roughly half a dozen tables outside to sit at. Service is friendly and we liked that you don’t get pressured when ordering.

DSC04139

There was a dozen doughnut flavours along with a small drink menu.

We were worried that the selection would be slim given the time we arrived but they had all their flavours and were continuously re-stocking.

5x Doughnuts
DSC04149We tried three gluten free flavours (haskap berry, vanilla glazed and chocolate mango) ($2.50 each), vegan apple fritter ($4.00) and maple walnut ($3.50).

DSC04155

The gluten free is a cake batter while the regular ones are a brioche or yeasted dough. The gluten free ones were great; a little smaller in size but good texture.

DSC04153

Haskap berry was my favourite of the three.

DSC04151

B liked that the chocolate mango wasn’t too sweet.

DSC04152

Vanilla glazed was the sweetest of the bunch.

DSC04154

The vegan apple fritter was my least favourite from the five we tried. The texture was different and didn’t have that satisfying nature of a regular apple fritter.

DSC04150

The maple walnut was decent.

Definitely will be back next time we’re in town to try more flavours. Give F&O a try!
