We dropped in on a Wednesday (around 6:30pm) and there was a short wait (around 15 minutes). Put your name down on the waitlist tablet inside. The inside aesthetics are beautiful and spacious. Service is incredibly friendly and they came by consistently to see if we wanted any sides refilled.
Tonkatsu options consist of pork, chicken, seafood and veggies. They also have a couple Saku specials and add-on options. Minimum order requirements is one katsu per person. Rice, miso soup and cabbage is unlimited.
You get rosu (pork loin), hire (pork filet), chicken thigh, two pieces of cheese, one ebi, one hotate and two pieces of vegetable.
We added the share for two option ($8.00) which gets you an additional set of rice, miso and cabbage.
Love the miso soup with bits of orange, onion and even some mini shredded meat pieces.
The breading that they use to cover the meat is fantastic; crunchy and satisfying.
My favourite pieces were the chicken thigh (juicy and moist) followed by the ebi (perfect to dip with the tartar sauce).
The cheese didn’t blow me away.
The hotate was decent.
Both pork cuts were a touch drier than the chicken.
Lastly, the kobacha squash and yam were done well.
This easily fed the two of us. We actually had a few pieces to take home as leftovers.
Will be back soon for more tonkatsu goodness.
