Haven’t ate Greek in what seems like ages but we decided to try out Anatoli Souvlaki for happy hour. They’re located next door to a Burgoo Bistro. They’re run by the same owners as The Greek Yaletown and The Greek Gastown.
We dropped in on a Saturday afternoon (around 2:30pm). The patio area was full but there was plenty of seating inside. Our server was great but the poor guy was running the whole floor by himself. Food came out very quickly.
Happy hour runs everyday (2:00pm to 5:00pm) and 9:00pm to close (Sunday to Thursday only).
The HH menu consists of 10 food and 11 drink options.
Spotted their dinner chalk menu inside.
Homous ($4.00)
Chickpeas, tahini, garlic, parsley and lemon.
Good portion, smooth and served with pita.
Gyro ($8.00)
Chicken gyro meat, lettuce, tomato, onion and tzatziki. Interestingly, this was served open faced on a pita. Chicken was tender but a bit one dimensional flavourwise.
Calamari ($9.00)
Served with tzatziki, red onions and a slice of lemon. Calamari was light but the batter was very plain. It needed some spices.
Souvlaki ($8.00)
Two pork skewers served kalamaki style on a pita with tzatziki. This was the winner from our meal. Pork skewers were moist and juicy with a perfect touch of char. Would get this one again.
Solid happy hour. Would love to try out their lamb dishes next time.
