We were looking for a light meal so after grabbing donuts, we stopped into Homestead Cookhouse. It’s an odd mashup of Canadian and Asian food. They’re located in the same plaza as Turtle Island Fish & Chips and Harbour Scoop Ice Cream.
Signs outside.
We dropped in on a Friday afternoon (around 3:15pm). The inside is tiny but there’s a couple tables outside to sit at. From what I could gather, it appears to have changed ownership. Hence the addition/assortment of random Asian food.
The menu is small with about 20 options; sandwiches, poutine, hot dogs, dumplings, ramen and beef/chicken teriyaki.
Philly cheesesteak and fries ($10.99)
This is not a real cheesesteak so keep that in mind. At least the beef wasn’t overcooked and there were a couple pieces of mushroom and grilled onions.
The fries were terrible; dry, tasteless and reminded me of McCain fries you buy from the grocery store.
Nothing particularly exciting about HC but prices are cheap.
