We’d seen Sushi Q a few days ago while we were in the area. It’s next door to Subway and across the street from Lost Horn Mediterranean Grill.
Sign outside.
We called in to grab takeout (around 12:30pm). It took about 20 minutes for them to prep the food.
The menu consists of appetizers, soups, tempura, sashimi, nigiri, maki sushi, trays, bento boxes, teriyaki, donburi, yaki udon and dessert. Lots of options to please everyone. Click here to see the menu (1, 2 and 3).
West coast pockets ($5.50 for 2)
Rice and smoked salmon filled inari pockets. These were the best thing we ordered.
Nigiri
We tried the scallop ($2.50), wild salmon ($2.50), toro ($2.50) and tamago ($2.00). Too much rice on each piece. Scallop was decent quality. Probably the cheapest price we’ve seen for a scallop nigiri. Wild salmon texture was okay but not much flavour. Toro was mushy, skip it. Not sure what the tamago was. The colour is some sort of mutant yellow.
Apple roll ($5.00)
Tempura apple. Never seen this before so we decided to give it a try. Turned out to be the best of the rolls we ordered. Good crunch and touch of sweetness from the apple.
Negitoro roll ($4.50)
Tuna and green onion. We love negitoro but this one was meh.
Inside-out spicy tuna roll ($5.50)
Spicy tuna and cucumber. Didn’t love this one either. The spicy sauce was bland and the tuna texture unpleasant.
The quality unfortunately is lacking but we weren’t expecting much at SQ given it’s the Okanagan.
