Egg & Co

We were looking for a brunch spot and settled on trying Egg & Co. It’s a few doors down from O! Taho.

We dropped in on a Saturday (around 11:30am) and it was busy. Lucky, we didn’t have to wait. The inside is bright, hip and a little throwback 2000’s music on the stereos.

The brunch menu is short and sweet; brunch, bread and benedicts. Total of 16 items available. There’s also a drink menu.

Latte ($4.50)

Chicken & French toast ($15.00)
DSC08838Chicken karaage, bacon, nori, sriracha mayo and maple syrup. Dish needs work. We weren’t a fan of the French toast; texture was too soft and taste was bland. The karaage was a mixed bag. Some bites were way too crunchy, otherwise were okay. Sounded great on paper but taste wise, it didn’t enthral.

Prawn & chorizo hash ($15.00)
DSC08840Fried eggs, bell peppers, fried onions, potatoes and parsley caper sauce. This was the best of the three dishes we ordered. Good amount of meat, variety of vegetables and balanced seasoning. I don’t love hashes but this hit the spot.

Buttermilk pancakes ($12.00)
DSC08834Strawberries and chantilly. You get four stacks of pancakes (which is a lot) but these were mundane and unmemorable. We didn’t finish.

E&C is okay but nothing particularly special about their brunch offerings.
