On the walk back to our car, we stumbled upon Dick’s Drive-In. I was still hungry after our dinner so decided to randomly give them a go. Apparently, they’ve been around since 1954. They also have two other locations in the city.
We dropped in on a Saturday evening (around 7:45pm) and it was bumping. Three lines that kept on getting longer. There’s no sitting area but you can either eat in your car or stand.
The menu consists of burgers, fries, milkshakes and old fashioned ice cream. Prices are dirt cheap ($1.70 US to $3.80 US for burgers).
Dick’s special ($2.40 US)
One patty, lettuce, mayo and chopped pickle. I don’t go out of my way to eat many burgers. This wasn’t particularly terrible or great. For the price, it’s serviceable. Bun is plain. Beef isn’t seasoned. The mayo adds some much needed moisture and the diced pickles some crunch.
French fries ($2.15 US)
They at least use fresh potatoes. Thin style but these were limp and soggy. Seasoning was okay.
If you’re on a budget, DDI will do the trick. Don’t come here for a real meal.
