We’d randomly spotted Amausaan Uji Matcha while heading to lunch. It’s a Japanese dessert chain (which we’ve never heard of before) located next to Kaze Ramen.
Seriously, not too shabby wages…
We dropped in on a Sunday afternoon (around 4:15 pm) where it wasn’t too busy. The inside is delightfully decorated with Tori gates, plastic dessert models and tea cups adorning the walls. Service was meh.
Dessert options consist of soft serve, ice ball, parfait, cakes/crepes and taiyaki.
Sadly, they were out of hojicha; instead, their seasonal flavour was vanilla with strawberry. How blasé.
Uji matcha soft cream (A4) ($6.90 US large)
The matcha flavour was excellent. Reminded us of all the soft serve we ate during our month long trip in Japan.
Texture was silky and smooth.
Only thing we were disappointed in was the massive hole in the middle. They’d never do that in Japan.
Matcha & red bean (B3) ($5.50 US)
One scoop each of matcha and red bean ice cream. The matcha wasn’t memorable; slightly icy and subtle in flavour. Red bean was better.
A touch pricy but AUM is a cute spot to get your matcha fix in.
