Had to make a stop into Marugame Udon for their made to order udon. They have a second location in Stonestown Mall. It’s the same owners as Marukame Udon, the OG spot, in Honolulu.
Maybe I should re-consider my career…
Menu sign when you first walk in.
We dropped in on a Sunday afternoon (around 3:30pm) and there was no line. The inside is spacious and ordering is cafeteria style.
Pick your udon, grab any tempura/masubi and pay. Green onion, cilantro, ginger and tempura bits are at the condiment station.
The menu consists of 13 options with hot/cold and regular or large bowls.
Super reasonable prices ranging from $5.20 US to $15.00 US.
Curry udon (#10) ($9.40 US large)
Sanuki udon noodles served with beef curry broth. The broth was tasty but I found it a touch salty. Just a touch though. There’s a bit of beef mixed into the bowl but don’t expect much. Udon was top quality; springy, toothsome and silky smooth.
Kitsune udon (#8) ($6.90 US large)
Kake udon with aburaage (sweet fried tofu). The tofu is slightly sweetened. The broth is light with good depth but this lets the noodles shine as the star of the bowl.
I love me some udon and you can’t go wrong at Marugame. Handmade, fresh udon.
