First brewery we dropped into was Drake’s Brewing Co. It’s located in Westgate plaza, close to the Walmart. It’s slightly hidden but you’ll see it once eventually.

Food truck is out front.
We dropped in on a Friday afternoon (around 1:30pm) and it was busy. The place itself is huge with plenty of outdoor and indoor seats. Order at the bar.
If you get food, they’ll give you a buzzer.
The menu is all behind the bar. There’s 21 beers on tap (a mix of regular, hazy, IPA and barrel aged).
There’s also a bunch of food options. The lunch special (Monday to Friday) caught our attention as you get a sandwich, side and 16oz beer.
Beers themselves were $15.99 US.
They had some interesting flavours that I wish was on tap (floor is guava, peached whale and tart breaker all sounded promising).
They have some merchandise hanging up along one wall.
Lunch special ($11.00 US)
We went the mushroom torta (mushroom, onion, cilantro and avocado) with salad and Oaklander-weisse (12oz).
This beer was moderately tart. The torta itself was okay; not much seasoning but I guess you could say it was healthy.
At least they give you plenty of avocado.
Salad was standard but lightly dressed.
Cherryland sour red ($4.00 US)
Reminded me of a kriek. You can definitely taste that it’s been barrel aged.
Long December ($4.00 US)
Tart quad ale with ume plums. This was our favourite from the beers we tried. Satisfying tartness from the ume (sour) plums.
Brette set go ($4.00 US)
American sour blonde with coffee. Our bartender gave us the wrong beer (we wanted the cult the sun). Oh well. Turned out to be our least favourite flavour. It had a vinegary end note.
Decent food and beers at Drake’s.
