Falafel Cafe

Falafel Cafe is one of B’s go to spots when she wants something cheap and easy. It’s located next to the always busy, popular House of Dosa.

The inside is quaint but has a hole in the wall vibe going on. Only one worker, the owner, seems to do it all here.

It takes about 10-15 minutes for food to come out. They take credit card but you have to pay $0.50 extra. At least you’re pre-warned about that.

The menu is short and sweet; 5 platter and 4 wrap options. Easy peasy.

I’m impressed that his prices hasn’t changed in years.

Trip #1
We dropped in on a Wednesday evening (around 6:45pm).

Chicken wrap ($6.99)
DSC04855The chicken was moist and tender. Make sure to ask for the hot sauce. There’s lettuce, purple cabbage, garlic tzatziki and hummus.

Falafel platter ($8.50)
DSC04848All the platters come with rice (except the falafel option), Greek salad and hummus.

DSC04853

It did come with a couple pieces of slightly warmed pita bread.

DSC04849

The hummus and salad are standard fare but let’s talk about the falafel.

Really impressed with them; you get four falafels and the inside chickpea batter is green! Tasty and appeasing to the eye.

Trip #2
We dropped in on a Friday evening (around 8:15pm) and it was dead.

Bread
DSC08815Four pieces of pita buns. Slightly warmed and light.

Chicken platter ($9.99)
DSC08816The meat was plentiful but this time around, the chicken wasn’t the best and I found it over seasoned.

DSC08819

Quite certain we were given the dry, end bits of the spit.

Lamb platter ($13.00)
DSC08817Lamb was solid. Good amount of meat, fairly tender and it retained it’s texture.

DSC08818

Decent eats at FC. Make sure to get the hot sauce
