Beijiang Restaurant

Our buddy really wanted to go to Beijiang Restaurant; we’ve only been to their other location. They specialize in Uygur, halal food and are located across the street from Sweet Memory.

Hours. Open everyday of the week.

We dropped in on a Sunday evening (around 7:00pm) and it was reasonably busy. Ridiculous that there’s a $688.00 roast whole lamb option.

Three different menus on the table. Note: the Richmond menu is completely different. The green menu had seafood and chef’s specials. Click here to see the menu (1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6).

The black menu was massive with skewers, cold appetizers, Uygur features, seafood, teppan & braised pots, homemade classics, vegetables, soup, fried rice & noodles and dessert.

They have a half price special (Sunday to Friday) where you can get one dish 50% off (choose from 6 options) when you spend $50 (lunch) or $80 (dinner). Oddly, the owner said this wasn’t available as they were offering a 15% discount instead.

5x Lamb skewers ($3.25 each)
DSC05825We asked for these spicy. Good spice rub on the skewers but it was more cartilage than normal.

Stir fried hand-made noodles ($16.99)
DSC05815We opted for the lamb. Noodles had a chewy texture but that was it. Not much flavour going on.

Beef dumplings ($11.99 for 12)
DSC05819A touch of soup inside the dumplings. Nothing special about them.

Beijiang specialty fried rice ($23.80)
DSC05818Lamb cubes, dry scallop, egg and onion. Again, it sounded different but flavours were standard. Totally not worth the price tag.

Lamb bone pot ($58.99 large)
DSC05826It’s shocking that you don’t get any rice or vegetables in this pot. All you get is literally a bunch of lamb bones with plastic gloves to eat with.

DSC05830

It’s 80% bones and 20% lamb meat.

DSC05827

Lamb wasn’t even amazing; kind of dry unless you de-bone the lamb and pour some broth onto it. We weren’t impressed.

Green bean soup
DSC05831A complimentary dessert to finish our meal. Surprised they use coconut milk so

Food was okay but everyone was still hungry after our meal.
