Fat’s Fried Chicken & Waffles was on our Seattle friend’s list of places to try. It’s located right beside Cherry Street Thai and Zagol Ethiopian.
Sign outside.
Hours. Closed on Monday.
We dropped in on a Saturday for brunch (around noon). The place was packed. Put your name on the list and be prepared to wait. We were a group of four and luckily, we waited only about 30 minutes or so.
The brunch menu (weekends only from 9:00am to 3:00pm) is split into entrees, sides and beverages.
There’s also a lunch, dinner and happy hour menu.

2x Fried chicken & waffles ($14.00 US)
Waffle, choice of breast or thigh, honey butter and syrup.
We went with the thigh; for the price, I’m flabbergasted that you only get one piece of fried chicken.
The waffle was thin but had a good crisp to the outside. Fried chicken was nicely seasoned but a small, small portion.
Shrimp & grits with eggs ($14.00 US)
Two free range eggs your way (we got ours poached) on top of shrimp and grits. There were three pieces of shrimp.
Grits were excellent, especially mixed in with the sauce. That sauce was next level; a slight unexpected heat.
Eggs were average; slightly over done with no yolk oozing out.
Honey butter chicken biscuit sandwich ($14.00 US)
Fried chicken breast, sweet honey butter and a side of fries. Our friend said the biscuit was really good.
I don’t get why Fat’s is sooooo popular.
