Whenever we’re in North Van, we always make a point to check a couple new spots. We decided to go for ice cream at Welcome Parlour; they tout themselves as having natural, authentic flavours. You’ll find them beside Andrews on 8th. They have a second location in at The Shipyards.
We dropped in on a late Saturday afternoon (around 5:00pm). There wasn’t really anyone else there but us.
The inside is cute with bright red chairs and candy everywhere.
The menu is split into ice cream, hot drinks, dessert and shake/floats.
Interesting that they have kombucha and ginger beer (from Green Leaf Brewery).
Saw someone filling up a growler to grow. Great slogan!
Scoops are $5.50 (single), $7.50 (double) and pints are $12.00.

They had about a dozen flavours to choose from; sadly, there was no butter beer which a buddy had told me about.
We sampled a couple flavours before deciding. Flavours lean mostly towards classics/standards.
We went with lemon lavender, mango pineapple, Bailey’s pecan and strawberry. We’ve had a few ice cream flights; this was literally the SMALLEST scoops I’ve ever seen. Wow. My eyes popped at how little the scoops were. That being said, let’s talk about the ice cream itself.
Strawberry was my favourite; liked that they had real chunks. Mango pineapple had a chunk of pineapple in it. Lemon lavender was light and refreshing (although a tad icy). Bailey flavour was subtle but had pecans in it.
It’s a cute neighbourhood spot but nowhere close to the quality you get in Van. Bite sized scoops.
