Pho Edmonds

After checking out a sample sale, we were ready to eat a very, very late lunch. I had Pho Edmonds saved to check out so we decided to finally drop by for a visit. It’s in the same plaza that houses a Serbian Bakery, Rustic Bread Bakery and Jovo the Butcher.

We dropped in on a Sunday (around 4:30pm). There was no one there when we first arrived but it got randomly busy soon after. Service is no frills and they never came back to refill our tea. At least they take credit cards.

The menu is small and split into appetizers, pho, vermicelli, rice, pho Edmonds specials and drinks. Click here to see the rest of the menu (1, 2 and 3).

Herbs
DSC02241Came with basil, bean sprouts and lemon wedges.

Bun bo hue (#24) ($9.75)
DSC02244I really enjoyed the homemade chicken balls. Those were the best things in our bowl.

There was also beef, Vietnamese ham, onions and green onions.

The broth was a little different than your usual BBH broth but it was waaaaay too salty.

Mi bo kho (#30A) ($9.50)
DSC02248Interestingly, there’s three options (with yellow/egg noodles, rice or banh mi). We went with option A. The broth smelled heavenly with a punch in star anise.

Portions of beef chunks were very generous (about 6 pieces) although the carrots weren’t tender.

If I were to come back, I’d try their banh mi and grilled meat rice dishes (#40 to #43).
