Our fourth and last stop of the day was at Dominion Cider. We’ve tried a few ciders previously but wanted to check out their tasting room. They’re neighbours to Saxon Estate Winery.
We dropped in on a Saturday afternoon (around 4:15pm). Follow the signs that will lead you to the shack/tasting area.
It’s small inside but the two girls working were friendly and sweet.
Tasting fee is complimentary! They had 7 flavours available and we were able to sample them all.
Bottles are $10.00 while their experimental series is $20.00 (including taxes).
Closeup of their cider taps.
They had a couple shirts/sweaters and glassware ($10.00) available for purchase.
First principles – this is their OG cider that’s on the drier side. Decent.
Collaboration ginger – a ginger cider which they’ve joined forces with Dickies Ginger to create. This was the other cider we liked the most.
Cascade hopped – apparently, they’re currently working on a grapefruit hopped cider. This one was interesting and not overly hoppy.
Lost garden rhubarb – the rhubarb was too subtle for my liking.
Magic hour – this is their only cider that’s canned.
New world perry – this was our favourite of the bunch. Light but the pear was prominent. We bought a bottle ($10.00) for home.
Pretty to think so – one of their experimental ciders. Wild fermented with raspberries. It’s blended with their first principles cider. Beautiful light pink colour and slight tartness from the raspberry. Would have liked it it was bolder and even more raspberry forward.
Dominion is another solid cidery in the Summerland area.
