Before an appointment in New West, we decided to go for lunch in the area. I’d never heard of Wild Thyme before but all the reviews raved about the quality Lebanese food.
We dropped in on a Saturday at noon. There was only one other table when we first arrived but the room gradually filled up.
Service was friendly and helpful; two young servers worked well together and both were filled with enthusiasm. They even opened the door for us when we left (you never see that anymore).
The menu is split into man’oushe, wraps & greens, entrees, desserts and drinks. The entrees are huge and meant to be shared. We shared a half bowl between two but that could easily have been split with three.

Water
Water in a patron bottle was fancy schmancy.
Tea
They bring you out a complimentary pot of black tea that’s hot and refillable.
Za’atar man’oushe ($8.95)
I can never say no to anything with za’atar in it. The za’atar was clearly made fresh in their brick oven.
The sliced cucumber and diced tomatoes was a nice touch but I would have liked more added on top.
1/2 kafta – 1/2 chicken ($22.95 half bowl)
Beef meat patty and marinated chicken breast served with rice, onions and tomatoes topped with tahini sauce. This also came with fattoush salad, homemade pita and four dips. The meat patty was moist and had good flavour but the chicken was slightly dry. The rice was excellent and had a lot of unique spices mixed into it.
Fattoush salad
Pomegranate, cucumber, peppers, tomato, red onion and parsley. A touch of citrus from the dressing. Good way to start our meal.
Pita and dips
The pita comes straight from the oven. Fresh and pillowy soft.
Perfect to go with the four types of dips; my favourite was the toum (garlic sauce) but the red pepper hummus was also delicious.
It almost tasted like roasted sundried tomatoes.
Hummus and the tahini were a bit more standard.
If there’s anything you do, make sure you finish that garlic sauce. Soooo good.
Overall, great quality and we had plenty of leftovers to take home. Bring a group so you can share all the dishes!
