Castle Bake 2

It’s been ages since I’ve been to Castle Bake. We decided to check out their second location, aptly named Castle Bake 2. It’s located in a random north side plaza; Happy Palace Restaurant is next door.

Look for the Capital Centre rotating sign.

We dropped in on a Wednesday afternoon (around 1:00pm) and the place was dead. Only one other couple was eating/smoking shisha. The inside is huge with an endless amount of booths and tables. Our server was a friendly guy who cracked a few jokes with us.

The menu is split into appetizers, salad, baked pita pies, breakfast & lunch, platters, sandwiches, pastas, desserts, drinks, shisha and pizza.

The baked pita pies are a must!

Zaatar ($2.50)
DSC04251Simple and satisfying. Love my zaatar pita pies.

Spinach & cheese ($4.50)
DSC04252The spinach is different; sour but pairs well with the cheese.

Saj chicken tawook ($9.95)
DSC04250We tried the saj version (instead of the normal pita). Love how they lightly crisp the sandwich; gives it a great texture.

Chicken was tender and flavourful inside. Perfect portion to share.

Falafel ($13.00)
DSC04248The platter came with a basket of fresh pitas bites, cubed tomatoes and an assortment of pickled vegetables.

The 6 falafels came straight from the deep fryer but were a bit bland.

Castle Bake 2 is just as solid as the original spot. If you find yourself in this area, definitely worth a visit.
