Sushi Aria

Sushi Aria is a Korean run Japanese restaurant. Never heard of it until I came across it while browsing for a place to eat. It’s located right beside Corner 23.

We dropped in on a Saturday evening (around 8:00pm) to a very sparse crowd. They were celebrating their 2nd anniversary and offered a free green salad and takoyaki if you posted a photo on Instagram or Facebook. Obviously, we did it to try their free items. Service is decent; food came out fairly quickly and they were for the most part prompt at refilling tea.

The menu is split into soup & salad, appetizers, tempura, donburi, udon, pan fried noodles, entrees, nigiri, sashimi, roll & cone, specialty rolls, oshi sushi, combinations and desserts.

Phew, that’s a ton of categories. Click here to see the full menu (1, 2, 3 and 4).

Green salad
DSC04184Bland, boring iceberg salad. Can’t believe this is regularly $4.50 on the menu.

DSC04183You get 6 pieces. These were really doughy and you only get one tiny piece of octopus in each ball. Meh.

Real Dungeness crab roll ($8.50)
DSC04176I was expecting real freshness when it said real crab but the texture was stale. These were just not tasty. Skip it.

Hotate oshi sushi ($9.00)
DSC041808 pieces. Slightly smokey from being seared but it could have been torched more.

Decent for the price.

Tuna & salmon sashimi ($10.95 for 9)
DSC041775 pieces of tuna and 4 pieces of salmon. Pieces were slabs. Not a fan when places do it like this. Guess it’s to be expected.

Sockeye salmon nigiri ($1.80)
DSC04179For wild salmon, this was pretty average.

Lime tuna nigiri ($1.80)
DSC04185Nigiri was good. Squeeze the lime on top for some acidity.

Overall, just merely passable sushi. Can’t reasonably justify coming back with so many other sushi spots to explore.
