Another day, another sushi spot. Sushi Nanaimo is the latest one for me to try with the Van crew. This is a popular place and prices are very reasonable.
Apparently, this place is normally crazy busy so most people prefer to do takeout. We hit the jackpot and came on a rather slow Tuesday night.
The menu is massive. Lunch boxes (11:00am – 4:00pm) look like a good deal.
Lots of cheap combination rolls too. There’s a card on the table promoting their special rolls.
Click here to see (1, 2, 3 and 4). Service is solid and they constantly come by to refill your hot tea and water. Food came out impressively fast.
4x toro nigiri ($1.50 each) and saba nigiri ($1.25 each)
Both types were fresh and sooooo cheap! Closeup of the toro nigiri. This is probably the cheapest you’ll find toro.
Same closeup for the saba nigiri.
Red roll ($6.25) and dynamite roll ($4.25)
Red roll is M’s favourite; he always orders one. If you can’t tell, it’s the one in the back. Dynamite roll (prawn tempura and masago) is the one in the middle.
Alaska roll ($4.25)
Avocado and salmon. They put this miso garlic sauce on top that’s delicious.
Crazy boy roll ($6.25)
Deep fried California roll with spicy mayo and unagi sauce.
Spicy salmon combo ($9.95)
Spicy salmon roll, negitoro ($0.70 to substitute) and spicy salmon sashimi.
Reminded me of a poke but with spicy sauce.
Negitoro was good, same with the rolls. Solid combo.
Cheap prices and good portions will satisfy your sushi cravings. Best bang for your buck.
