Had to find a good vegetarian place when L and J came into town for a visit. MeeT in Gastown was recommended by a Van friend of mine so we decided to give it a shot. They have two other locations in town (MeeT on Main and MeeT in Yaletown).
MeeT is somewhat hidden as you have to walk a bit inside to find it. Look for this sign.
Or this one.
We came on a Saturday afternoon to find it packed. We were a party of 5 but luckily only had to wait 15 minutes to grab a table.
The menu has many options but luckily, our waitress was helpful and guided us to a few of her favourites. The main menu is split into shares, fries, poutine, salads, bowls, burgers and desserts (cronut!). Click here (1 and 2).
We finally made it for happy hour (hurray) so we tried all of their HH options.
They also had a few daily specials.
And of course, a couple of beer specials.
The dip tasted bean based; kind of different but similar in flavours.
The “beet” salad ($11.25)
Kale, romaine, roasted red beets, marinated chickpeas, carrot and corn tossed in a pea pesto dressing. Topped with crumbled feta and pumpkin seeds. Beets were sweet and perfectly roasted.
The lovely ($12.75)
Almond satay sauce, shredded carrots, brown rice, marinated tofu, wilted kale, broccoli, roasted red pepper and toasted coconut bacon. I liked this rice bowl more out of the two we ordered.
The macro ($12.50)
Tofu, brown rice, steamed broccoli, kale, chili flakes, sautéed mushrooms, cashew gravy, sesame seeds and marinated mung bean sprouts. This one had more of an Asian twist to it with the cashew gravy sauce and bean sprouts.
I don’t know how they did it but the amount of heat to this burger couldn’t have been executed better. Great batter, flavour and taste.
Everyone was extremely satisfied with our meal. Chill vibes (loved the indie playlist), bumping spot and great vegetarian food.
