Going out to a steakhouse is a rarity for me but every now and then, we like to treat ourselves. Modern Steak had a pretty reasonable Big Taste menu so we paid them a visit one Saturday evening.
Menu from the outside. The inside is very high end, fancy; what I didn’t expect was it to have two floors! Pretty slick. Dimming of the lights makes it perfect for date night, although hope you’ve got a fat wallet.
Big Taste menu. Three course for $35.00 ain’t too shabby.
It’s a nice touch that they come to your table and let you choose your own personal steak knife! My sis and I settled on the Big Taste menu while O went off menu as he is picky when it comes to his steaks.
Oysters ($45.00 for dozen)
Oysters were $3.75/each. Pricey! Comes with the usual mignonette, lemon and horseradish accompaniments. Above average but I would wait and come on a Thursday for their buck a shuck.
Filet ($54.00 for 7oz)
Pine Haven Farms filet (wet aged, pasture raised, 100% grass fed and finished). This looked really small. Steaks are always pricey and MS has a huge range of them. At least you get one side included.
Big Taste dinner ($35.00 for three courses)
Chocolate mousse cake
White and dark chocolate mousse, chocolate sponge cake and raspberry coulis. The dessert didn’t look like much but it was smooth and decadent. The raspberry coulis helped bring a touch of sweetness.
To me, this seems like a special occasion/business meeting spot unless you’re a die hard steak eater.
