I’ve never set foot in Rocky Mountain Icehouse before but it’s located right beside The Needle Vinyl Tavern.
Half price wine bottles all day Thursday! Tuesday’s are half price appetizers.
Obviously, you have to get a bottle if you’re there on a Thursday. We tried a malbec.
Menu is a generic mix of appetizers, soups & salads, sandwiches, mains and desserts. Click for the full menu here (1, 2, 3 and 4).
Cream cheese tapenade ($12.00)
Roasted peppers and olives with basil in a philly cream cheese blend. It came served with grilled naan bread. Their words not mine. The sauce was way too creamy. No balance at all. Massive pieces of red onions and grape tomatoes carelessly thrown on top. We weren’t impressed.
Hush puppies (you get four), spicy sausage, chicken, peppers, onions and rice. If you think this actually jambalaya, yikes. Mushy rice and not much flavour wise. At least the sausage was decent.
The burger ($13.00)
Beef patty with lettuce, Icehouse sauce and dill pickle. Comes with a side of your choice (salad, daily soup or house made potato chips). We ordered the salad but our waitress brought out chips by mistake. Chips were really salty. She brought our salad after we inquired about it.
The burger was remarkably unremarkable.
Another typical Edmonton pub sums it up perfectly. Come here for drinks (if you must) but skip the food.
