Not So Deadmonton Series: FootGolf

Something fun and different from your usual activities is a little known sport called FootGolf. Pretty self explanatory but if you can’t figure it out, it’s golf and soccer combined. This started up at Rundle Park’s golf course a year or two ago and I’ve been wanting to give it a try since I first heard about it.

Some basic info: the season is from May 5 to September 1 and only on Friday evenings (4:00pm to dusk). Cost is $12.00 (adults), $8.00 (youth) and $3.00 (ball rental). You call to book a “tee time” through the pro shop: (780) 496-4710. That’s it; easy peasy.

The rules are a joke. You’re also not to supposed to wear cleats so bring your indoors.

Cool that they actually made little FootGolf cards to keep track of your scores, read the rules and see the map of the courses.

This sign is hilarious. I wonder how the golfers feel about the back 9 being closed every Friday evening 😛 We came on opening night and had the whole course to ourselves.

Look for the soccer ball markers and signs. They could improve the signage for where the next hole is. Anyways, if you play soccer, this is surprisingly a lot of fun if you don’t take it too seriously and have a few laughs.
