Bambu Desserts & Drinks

I’m always on the lookout for good boba/BBT places to try and happened to stumble upon Bambu, which peaked my interest with their speciality chè drinks. Interesting that Bambu has over 50 shops throughout the States, with the original stores starting in San Jose, California. The chè was completely different and unique than any other drinks I’ve had before so we decided to check it out late Thursday night.

The inside is pretty small but there are several tables to sit down and chill at. The lady working the front wasn’t the friendliest but that’s probably because we were there at 9pm? Either way, she seemed to be more interested in watching the TV news than helping us out.

They have a variety of drinks (smoothies, milk teas, coffee, etc.) and some food (banh mi) but we were only there to try out the chè.

Awesome trio (#3) and Fruit addict (#6) ($4.75 each)
DSC05400The Awesome trio consisted of red, white and mung beans with taro and pandan jelly while the Fruit addict had jello, lychee, longan, jackfruit, palm seed, red tapioca, coconut meat and pandan jelly. This was our first time trying chè and taste wise, let’s just say it wasn’t what I was expecting. A big chunk of shaved ice is plopped on top of your drink so you need to smush it down and mix it with everything else.

My sis didn’t like it and honestly, even I wasn’t the biggest fan. Weird because we love trying all sorts of new foods but this one didn’t appeal to either of us. It’s definitely a texture thing with all the different elements mixed together. Eh, it was worth at least trying once.
